2026 NBA All-Star State Farm 3-point contest: Format, participants and how to watch and stream online
Two former winners return - one with the chance of equaling the record for multiple wins. Who will be crowned champion at the Intuit Dome?

The NBA regular season takes a break this weekend for the 2026 NBA All-Star. Between Friday, February 13 and Sunday, February 15, one of the most highly anticipated sporting events of the year will be held at the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles, California - the home of the LA Clippers. It will be the seventh time that the Los Angeles area has hosted the All-Star Weekend. For three days, the NBA stars’ show will capture the attention of the entire world.
Within the All-Star spectacle, one of the most exciting events is the 3-Point Contest, the first event scheduled for Saturday February, 14th starting at 5:00 p.m. ET.
The contest will be aired live from the Intuit Dome by NBC and Peacock.

State Farm 3-Point Contest participants
This year’s event features two previous winners and four players who have taken part in recent editions. This will be Damian Lillard’s sixth participation since 2014 - the Portland guard won the 3-Point Contest in 2023 and 2024 and is just one win away from equaling the all-time record for multiple wins, shared by Larry Bird and Craig Hodges.
Lillard, who tore his Achilles in the playoffs 10 months ago and has not played a single game for the Trail Blazers since his return last summer. He has come out of rehab especially to have a crack at a third title.

Devin Booker has made four appearances in the contest, winning with a record score of 28 in 2018 and pipped by one point to finish second behind Buddy Hield in 2020.
Two other players also return - Norman Powell who took part in last year’s contest and Donovan Mitchell, representing the Jazz in 2021 and the Cavaliers in 2024.
Maxey, Portis, Murray and rookie Knueppel, picked by the Hornets in last year’s draft, are all making their debuts.

3-Point Contest format
The competitors have 70 seconds to shoot from the three-point line, taking all five shots from each of the five racks positioned in the classic spots (two in the corners, one at the top of the key, and two at a 45-degree angle). Each successful three-pointer is worth one point.
Each rack contains one multicolored ball (or money ball), which is worth two points instead of one if made. Additionally, one of the five racks, chosen by the shooter, will consist entirely of money balls, meaning every shot from that rack will be worth two points. There will also be two white “STARRY” balls placed farther than the other shots, each worth three points. In total, players will attempt 27 shots.
Participants compete in two rounds. The top three scorers from the first round advance to the final, where they will go through the same process again. The player with the highest score in the final round will be declared the winner.
