Adam Schefter’s incredible NBA Finals prediction resurfaces online: Will it come true?

The New York Knicks are fighting for their lives ahead of Game 5 against the Indiana Pacers. But a shock comeback win for the Knicks would complete an incredible NBA prediction from an unlikely source.

Back in September Adam Schefter, the NFL Insider, took a punt on a prediction for the upcoming NBA season. Incredibly, Schefter is very close to calling the two teams that will contest the 2024/25 NBA Finals.

At the time, Shefter predicted a match-up between the Oklahoma City Thunder and the New York Knicks in the finals, with the Thunder taking the championship. Here’s a look back at what he said...

“I’m going to take the New York Knicks versus the Oklahoma City Thunder, and I’m going to crown Oklahoma as the new NBA champion,” Schefter said. “And if they do go ahead and win it, I will officially be applying to take over Woj’s job and become the new NBA insider.”

Now, while the Oklahoma City prediction looks like a very good bet, he may have just missed out on a perfect call. The Knicks find themselves 3-1 down in their series against the Indiana Pacers heading into Game 5.

If they can put together an three-game winning streak to turn the series around it will complete one of the most astonishing playoff series of recent years and will make good on an outrageous prediction from Schefter.

Ahead of the 2024/25 season the reigning champions Boston Celtics were the run-away favorites with bookmakers. In second place were the Denver Nuggets, and then the Minnesota Timberwolves, Dallas Mavericks, and the Milwaukee Bucks and Oklahoma City Thunder tied at fifth.

With the Thunder placed a +1000 with the bookmakers, Schefter could have been looking at a very nice payday if his prediction comes in.
