Anthony Davis vs Luka Doncic: Spencer Dinwiddie reveals shocking thoughts on NBA trade drama
The Luka Doncic-Anthony Davis trade is still causing waves in the NBA even two months later as Mavericks player Spencer Dinwiddie speaks his peace.

The Dallas Mavericks fans have not cooled off from the shocking trade of Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for Anthony Davis. The Mavericks players themselves are getting tired of hearing about it, but they don’t deny their own shock when they found out about the trade.
The latest to speak out about the trade - which has seen the Lakers excel with Luka next to LeBron James and the Mavericks start to tank with AD getting injured in his debut - was Mavs guard Spencer Dinwiddie.

Dinwiddie gets honest about Luka-AD trade
Dinwiddie spoke on the “Club 520 Podcast” about the Luka-AD trade and revealed his thoughts on the unfair reaction to receiving AD on the team.
“You could feel how you feel about the trade. Win, lose, better for now, better for the future, whatever it may be,” Dinwiddie said. “The only thing that sucks is that they’re acting like AD is a bum, that’s the crazy part.”
“We’ve got to stop acting like AD isn’t AD, bro. We got to stop,” he continued. “They’re acting like AD ain’t probably top-five power forwards of all time.”
While he did admit that Luka is “probably the best offensive player in the NBA right now”, he also said “AD might be the best two-way player” along with Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo.
“They are both my friends... So it’s a tough position to be in, like I said.”
Dinwiddie also admitted he was just as shocked as the rest of the world to find out about the trade.
“I don’t think anybody would disagree with this. Going into the season, you would have thought he was untouchable,” he said.
“It was just crazy because, you know, we had an early game against Cleveland the next day, so I went to sleep early,”Dinwiddie said. “When I woke up, I knew there was a problem, or something went on, because I had other NBA players’ missed calls. Like Zach LaVine, DLo (D’Angelo Russell)… I was just shocked, I don’t think there’s any other way to put it.”
Although it’s difficult to accept, the reality is that AD is a Maverick now and Luka is not. And Dinwiddie made his expectations known for their new forward.
“If you look at what he was able to do in conjunction with Gaff (Daniel Gafford) in the Rockets game… In the first half, I think the Rockets scored 38 points, and they were like second in the West,” he said. “That trio with PJ (Washington), AD, and Gaff, there was nowhere to go. That was exciting to see.”
AD returned to play for the Mavs on Monday against the Brooklyn Nets, scoring 12 points, six rebounds, and three assists in the win, despite clearly not being fully back to himself.

“It was tough seeing these guys battling every night. Winning close games. Losing close games. Blowing teams out. Getting blown out…For me, it was never a thought about if I was going to come back & play.” pic.twitter.com/2C7s1OIngc
“It was tough seeing these guys battling every night," said Davis. “Winning close games. Losing close games. Blowing teams out. Getting blown out…For me, it was never a thought about if I was going to come back and play."
“I just want to go out there to do as much as I can to give them a breather at least,” he said.
