Are the Warriors eliminated if they lose to the Kings in the play-in?
The Warriors face a do-or-die situation against the Sacramento Kings. Of course, even if they win it only gets harder from here as they try to make history.
Being as they are the Dubs will have to go on the road as they try to secure an opportunity to have a chance at progressing to the 2024 NBA Playoffs. Given the form of the games leading up to this point, it would be fair to say they’ve seen better days.
The Warriors have their backs against the wall
On Tuesday night, the Golden State Warriors will be faced with a very simple choice: Win or go home. As the No. 10 seed in the Western Conference, the Warriors now find themselves in the NBA Play-In Tournament meaning they need to defeat the Sacramento Kings in order for a shot at beating the New Orleans Pelicans who lost to the Los Angeles Lakers. It’s worth noting that the Dubs will have to do that on the road at Golden 1 Center as their seeding now dictates.
Frankly, it doesn’t get any better either as once again the Warriors’ position means that even if they get past the Kings, they will once again have to leave home to take on the Pelicans. That said, should they manage to defeat Zion Williams and Co. they will take their place in NBA history as the first-ever 10th seed to make it out of the NBA Play-In Tournament and into the NBA Playoffs. Of course, as we’ve just established, that will almost certainly require an equally historic run.
Where the head-to-head is concerned, the Warriors and the Kings have met four times this season and they shared the spoils at 2-2, though the Kings did win their last two encounters, including a rather tightly contested 134-133 clash back in January when Steph Curry was guilty of a last-second turnover at the finish. Truthfully, the temperature between the two teams has only continued to rise in recent years, something we all saw in last season’s 7-game first-round playoff series. In what was the first time that the two California-based franchises met in the postseason, fans were treated to an intense affair. This is all to say, expect things to be the same on Tuesday night..Tuesday night..
