Ben Simmons settles with the Philadelphia 76ers following salary debate

NBA superstar Ben Simmons is said to have reached a settlement with his ex-team, the Philadelphia 76ers, regarding the grievance claim he filed to recuperate a portion of his salary from the previous season. The Australian wanted a portion of the almost $US20 million that the Sixers held from him because he refused to play for them during the previous season.

Trade rumors began to surface just as soon as the last season started, but those discussions went south as teams believed that what the Sixers were asking for was too much. In the end, he was sent to the Brooklyn Nets in February as part of a package that included James Harden as the headliner.

ESPN was the first to disclose that the team and player had come to an agreement over the settlement of their dispute. Both parties have agreed to keep the specific sum of money private.

What happened to Ben Simmons with the Sixers

In 2016, the Philadelphia 76ers selected the Australian player with the first overall pick. He went on to become an NBA All-Star.

However, he struggled when the Atlanta Hawks eliminated the top-seeded 76ers in the semi-finals of the Eastern Conference in 2021. Simmons was the target of criticism by the meadow, the fans, and even his teammates and coach.

When the previous season began, Simmons alleged that he could not play with the team on games and exercise with his teammates due to mental health issues.

Unfortunately for the Australian, his 2021 season never took off. Just as he moved on trade to the Nets, he experienced back pain issues in, leading to him missing the season and requiring surgery.

Simmons has not yet participated in a game for the Nets, who are now engaged in a dispute with superstars Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant.
