The Boston Celtics fell short of the NBA Finals and want to rebuild their roster so they can compete for the Larry O’Brien Trophy in the 2023-24 season.

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, the Celtics are in talks with the Wizards and Clippers to finalize a three-way trade that would send Kristaps Porzings to Boston. Marcus Morris and Draft picks would arrive in Washington and Malcolm Brogdon would be a new player for the Los Angeles franchise.

For any trade to work, the 27-year-old Latvian center will have to take the player option set out in his contract valid for next season. According to Spotrac, Porzingis will earn $36 million next year.

The possible arrival of Porzingis in Boston would serve to bolster the internship rotation. Coach Joe Mazzulla only counted on Robert Williams III and Al Horford for extended playing time in the postseason because Mike Muscala and Luke Kornet have technical limitations .

The statistics of Kristaps Porzingis in the last season

Born in Liepaja, Latvia, comes off his best year as a professional with 23.2 points per game. In addition, he registered 8.4 rebounds and 2.7 assists in 32.6 minutes per game. The increase in points had to do with the increase in the accuracy of field goals. In the 2021-22 season, he made 45.9 percent of his shots and last year he made 49.8 of his shots.

Plus, Porzingis was able to put injuries aside. The center appeared in 65 games as the Wizards’ starting center. Only in his first two years, 72 and 66 respectively, did he exceed that number of games played.
