Update:

Despite falling out of the first round, Bronny found a home with the Lakers as their second-round pick, chosen 55th overall. Bronny James, a consensus four-star recruit, played high school basketball for Sierra Canyon in California.

As a senior, he averaged 14.2 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 1.8 steals. His commitment to the University of Southern California (USC) was met with excitement, but his journey took an unexpected turn.

Before his freshman season at USC, Bronny experienced cardiac arrest during a practice due to a congenital heart defect. Fortunately, he recovered and returned to the court, contributing 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and 0.8 steals in 25 appearances for the Trojans.

Why did the Lakers pick Bronny James?

At 6-foot-2, Bronny lacks size for an NBA guard, but his athleticism stands out. He excels in catch-and-shoot situations and displays great energy on defense. While not a true point guard, he can handle the ball and is a willing passer. His draft stock improved significantly after an impressive shooting display at the combine.
