WE ARE UNDERWAY FROM CHASE CENTER!!!
We saw Klay Thompson in the starting five in Boston over the weekend. While that loss was not on the shoulders of the other Splash Brother, he is the one that heads to the bench to make way for Podziemski. Wiggins is also back after missing the last few games tending to some personal matters. They are joined by Curry, Kuminga and Green to start the night against the Bucks.
As we mentioned before, Giannis is available tonight so he will headline Doc Rivers first five alongside Lillard, Beasley, Jae Crowder and Lopez down low. Defense has been the specialty over the couple weeks, let's see if this starting five comes out and sets the tone early on.
The Bucks come into tonight riding a six game win streak after their win over the Clippers. Giannis missed that game due to a flair up of his Achilles tendinitis, but the Bucks will have their two time MVP back in the starting five tonight. Khris Middleton is close to a return but will sit out tonight as his sprained left ankle continues to heal.
NBA Standings
Taking a look at the standings in each conference we see the Bucks are nestled back in second thanks to their fantastic stretch over the last two weeks. Milwaukee are going to have a tough time catching up to the Celtics who are sitting 7.5 games ahead of the Bucks, but they are likely only going to have to fend off the Cavaliers as the Knicks and Magic are showing signs of weakness as the season goes on. The Warriors are in a much more urgent situation in the West knowing that they have to make up games and quickly. They are currently in the final Play-In spot at the 10 spot in the West, but can still set their sights on an automatic playoff bid. To do that they are going to have to hope the Suns, Kings, Mavericks and Lakers all drop games. One thing to remember is the Warriors have a couple games to make up after the postponement of a couple games in the wake of Dejan Milojevic’s passing.
Curry back in his comfort zone
It’s very rare we see Steph Curry shut down in a big game on a big stage. While he wasn’t the only one that struggled in Boston, seeing him head to the bench with 4 points in the second half was something that we haven’t seen often and may never see again. If there is one thing you can count on, it’s the Curry is going to have a bounce back game. He’s back home, needing a win, and playing a team that has had their troubles on the defensive end. I’m expecting a huge night from Curry at the Chase Center tonight.
Dame time
Damian Lillard was brought to Milwaukee for games like this. He was one of the best players in the league in Portland, and has shown signs of that in Milwaukee. When talking to TNT’s studio panel of Shaq, Chuck and Kenny, Shaq told him that have to stop being nice guys and play their game. Since then LIllard and Giannis have been dominating and somehow, that has translated to the defensive side of the ball as well. He’s coming off of one of his best games as a Buck and he’s going to need to more of those kinds of nights to make Milwaukee into a real contender.
Warriors last game
The Warriors went into TD Garden as one of the hottest teams in the league, looking to keep their road win streak alive but the NBA’s best team mopped the floor with the Golden State Warriors. Boston jumped out to a 20 point lead thanks to Jaylen Brown’s 19 first quarter points, and that lead only amplified as Jayson Tatum started warming up and the C’s went into the halftime break with a 44 point lead. Golden State would trail by as many as 56 as Steph Curry went to the bench with four.
Bucks last game
The Bucks rattled off their sixth straight win on Monday night, but it didn’t come easy against a Clippers team that led for almost the entire game. Giannis sat out nursing an ankle injury which meant that Damian Lilliard was going to have to step up for the Bucks, and he did just that. He had 41 points but they needed a big comeback in the second half, and went on a 12-0 run in the fourth quarter to take their first lead since the first quarter and stunned the Clippers in a 113-106 win.
We are live from Chase Center
Hello everyone and welcome to the Bay where the Golden State Warriors are trying to dig themselves out of the bottom of the postseason picture in the Western Conference after suffering their first road defeat in nine games in a blowout loss to the Boston Celtics. The Milwaukee Bucks haven’t lost since before the All-Star Break, and it seems like Doc Rivers finally has this team playing the way everyone expected them to be playing all season long. Giannis and Damian Lillard seem to have a sorted things out over the break and that is only going to bring success in Milwaukee. They have a tough stretch of games coming up, and are going to want to kick this west coast road trip off with a win.
Bucks vs. Warriors
Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors are back home after a four game East Coast swing and looking to rebound after a butt kicking in Boston. It’s not going to get much easier tonight as they host Giannis Antetokoumnpo and the resurgent Milwaukee Bucks and AS English will be with you all night providing live coverage, stats, highlights and analysis of tonight’s game from Chase Center.
