Caitlin Clark is the 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year
Clark’s performances were so good that during her first season in the WNBA she finished fourth in the regular season Most Valuable Player voting.
Caitlin Clark’s arrival at the WNBA has been nothing short of astonishing as the former Iowa State player scooped the 2024 Rookie of the Year award from the Associated Press. The Indiana Fever point guard won the award after being chosen unanimously over Angel Reese and with the win she became the second Fever player in franchise history to win the distinction with the first being Aliyah Boston in 2023.
Clark’s performances were so impressive over the 2024 campaign that she finished fourth in the regular season MVP voting with that award was won by A’Ja Wilson of the Las Vegas Aces. The Indiana Fever player is the first rookie to finish in the top five of the MVP voting since Elena Delle Donne finished third in 2013.
Additionally, Clark and Wilson completed the league's best quintet along with Napheesa Collier, Breanna Stewart and Alyssa Thomas. The rookie was part of the best team of first-year players along with Kamilla Cardoso, Leonie Fiebich, Rickea Jackson and Angel Reese.
Caitlin Clark’s historic season in numbers
The University of Iowa graduate started all 40 regular-season games and led all rookies in points per game (19.2), assists (8.4), steals (1.3) and minutes (35.4). Among other accomplishments, Clark became the first rookie to record a triple-double.
During the season, she was named Rookie of the Month four times, Eastern Conference Player of the Week three times and was Eastern Conference Player of the Month for August.
Clark will now be looking to help the Fever as they face third seeded Connecticut Sun in the 2024 WNBA playoff first round.
