Celtics greats turn out to support the team

With tickets starting at $800 for Game 3 of the NBA Finals between the Boston Celtics and the Golden State Warriors, a seat inside the TD Garden was a hot commodity. Needless to say a number of celebrities didn’t let pricing get in the way as many of them both from the world of sports and showbiz turned up in droves. Here’s a look at some of the big names who were on hand for Wednesday night’s game when the Celtics took an all important 2-1 lead in the NBA Finals best of seven series.

There were a number of former Boston Celtics players present for Game 3 and perhaps their support did the trick as the Celtics held off a late surge by the Warriors to clinch a 116-100 victory at home in Boston. They will need that same kind of helping hand in Game 4 on Friday night as the Warriors will surely come out firing on all cylinders. Who were the former Celtics present? None other than the likes of Paul Pierce, Antoine Walker, Bill Walton, Charlie Scott, ML Carr, Leon Powe, Dana Barros and Eddie House.

A variety of celebrities turned up for the Celtics win

Of course it wasn’t just celebrities from the sporting world or former Celtics players, but there were also Hollywood stars, music icons and business moguls present as well. Multi Grammy winning hip hop artist Nelly was in the building on Wednesday night and he left no doubt about where his allegiance lies as he actually performed in a green Boston Celtics jersey at half time. There was also fellow hip legend Jada Kiss who could be seen taking in the action. Even the world of business was represented on the night with the Kraft Group’s chairman and CEO Bob Kraft sat courtside to get a better view of the Celtics victory. Yet perhaps the nicest celebrity sighting was that of award winning actress Nia Long who is actually married to Celtics coach Ime Udoka.

The New England Patriots’ players also turned up

In a show of love from one New England based team to another, the Patriots were also well represented at the game on Wednesday night. With James White, Don’t’a Hightower, Damien Harris, Davon Godchaux and Byron Cowart in attendance it was clear that the NFL team has no problem showing support to a team from the town. Will that kind of love be instrumental in inspiring the Celtics to a historic 18th championship? Only time will tell, but it’s certainly nice to see.
