Kyrie ended the night with this filthy sequence of crossovers and an impossible step back over PJ Tucker to ignite the crowd and help stretch the lead to over 20 in the 4th quarter. Kyrie ended the night with 30 points, 28 of which came in the second half as he registered another close out win.
The Mavs will take on the top seeded Oklahoma CIty Thunder in the next round, and that is going to be a thriller. Game 1 is Tuesday night from Paycom Center.
Kyrie started feeling it in the third quarter, scoring 15 points and hitting some impossible shot. When these are going down, there isn't much you can do if your the defender. Just put your hand up and cross your fingers it doesn't go down.
Daniel Gafford has added another dimension to this team since being traded for midseason. He is a defensive force in the paint and can do it on the offensive end as well. The Dallas native had 13 points, and did a good job controlling Ivica Zubac and the boards all night.
Kyrie didn't take long to get going in the third quarter. He hit the first bucket of the second half and didn't slow down until clock hit zeros.
This was Kyrie's only basket in the first half, but he had plenty in store for the final 24 minutes of the close out game. He came into Game 6 with a perfect 12-0 record in series clinching games in his career, and made sure that record stayed unblemished.
Derek Lively played big minutes off the bench, scoring 10 points and bringing the arena off it's feet more than a few times. The Mavs led for most of the first half, but they would let the Clippers pull even at the halftime break.
Dallas came out with ton of energy, hitting the boards hard and creating second chance points that led to open shots for not just Luka and Kyrie but the role players who played a big part in the Mavs Game 6 win. PJ Washington had 14 points and hit 4 threes and two of the Mavs 18 offensive rebounds.
The Dallas Mavericks sealed the series and secured their spot in the next round of the playoffs with their win over the Los Angeles Clippers on Friday night from the American Airlines Center. Kyrie Irving had a massive second half to lift his side to victory, while staying perfect in close out situations in his career.
The Mavericks had momentum on their side after winning Game 5 in LA, and they kept it going early in the first quarter of the game on Friday night. Luka Doncic put the home side ahead in the opening minutes of the game and the Mavs kept that lead for most of the night.

Powell added energy off the bench and chipped in 10 points to help LA claw back in to the lead.
Georg has 14 and six rebounds in the first half, and it's the Clips big two that are playing the better team basketball at the moment.
Harden dished seven assists in the first half, and dropped 9 points to help out PG and Norman Powell who came off the bench and aided in the comeback.
Luka had 18 points and 7 assists in the first half, but Kyrie had just two points and the Mavs offense slowed down in the second quarter.
George carried his team through the first quarter, scoring 10 points and finding his groove after a rough night in Game 5.
The Mavs got off to a great start thanks to the big guys hitting the boards hard down low. They pulled down 11 offensive boards and that led to second chance points for the home team.
Luka has been battling and injuries and an illness in this series, but came out looking as healthy as he has in the postseason and it showed on the offensive end.

LA's starters
With no Kawhi, it's going to be PJ Tucker looking to bring a bit of an edge on the defensive end. That might be what the Clips need to start out tonight to get Paul George and James Harden going. Terrance Mann will keep the Mavs defense on alert from the perimeter and Zubac has to be huge tonight down low.
Mavs first five
The Mavs are going all in from the start of tonight's elimination game from Dallas. It's Luka, and Kyrie joined by Washington, Jones Jr. and Gafford The other three are going to be the key to tonight. Gafford and Jones Jr. are energy guys who can ignite the American Airlines Center up and Washington has been great in this series.

Luka has the green light
Luka Doncic is not listed on the injury report, despite suffering from a sprained knee and a sickness that he has not been able to shake for the last week or so. He suffered the sprained knee earlier in the series, and has been critical with his performances in this series although he has never mentioned his injury. He is coming off a 35 points 10 assist game, so he seems to be healing from both ailments. Tonight he knows he is going to have to bring his A game to knock off a Clippers team fighting for their lives.
Leonard out again
It’s been the same old story for Kawhi Leonard and the Clippers. LA have been without their top scorer for three of the five games against the Mavs in this series. This isn’t the first time Leonard has missed the playoffs. He missed all of the 2021/22 campaign, played in just two games last postseason, and will miss his fourth game of the first round after being ruled out with right knee inflammation. Leonard had his healthiest regular season since 2017, but like in year’s previous, these injuries have their way of popping up at the most inopportune times.
Playoff P needs to show himself
If the Clippers are going to stay alive after tonight, it’s no secret who is going to have to step up and take charge. Paul George and James Harden have showed they can carry this team when it matters, but last game was one to forget. The only game the Clippers had Kawhi Leonard for in this series, but his presence seemed to water down the performances of PG and Harden. In LA’s two win in the series George is averaging 27.5 points, 6 rebounds and 5.5 assists while Harden is getting 31.5 points, and 7.5 assists. If the Clips are going to have a chance those two are going to have to put up similar numbers.

At this point, we are almost accustomed to Kyrie Irving dazzling us with his sensational handles and acrobatic finishes. He and Luka Doncic seem to have figured things out in the last phase of the season and here in the first five games of the opening round. He had just 14, 4 and 6 last game and let Luka take the wheel as he sat back and took a passengers seat to the Doncic show. That has been the beauty of watching these two build their chemistry lately. Both know when to take charge of the game, and both know when it’s time to just fade back as the other one dominates. With these two are both on, this team has the ability to kill you in transition and in the half court.

Game 5 recap
After the Mavericks nearly came back from a 31 point deficit in Game 4 from Dallas, they went into LA and blew the Clippers out. The lead went back and forth in the first quarter, but that would be the only time the Clippers came close to winning the game. The Mavs went on a 25-6 run to from the second quarter into the third quarter thanks to a monster game from Luka Doncic. The Slovenian sensation dropped 35 points and 10 assists after having been self critical of his performances throughout the series. The Clippers stars on the other hand, disappeared. Paul George scored 15 pointes and went 4/13 from the field while Harden was held to seven points and shot 2/12 from the field. The Clippers wold cruise to a 30 point victory, and take home court away from LA setting up tonight’s elimination game.

Hello everyone and welcome to Dallas where the Mavericks are looking to build upon their Game 5 win in LA that set them up for tonight’s knock out game at home. This is the third time the Clips and Mavs have met in the last five postseasons, and it could be the first time Jason Kidd’s side knock the Clippers out of the playoffs after failing to do so in the other two series. LA is going to need a rebound tonight after getting wiped out by the Mavs at home. They have won once here in this series, and they will be looking for a repeat tonight with their season on the line.
