Green is 37 years old, and his last contract was in Philadelphia. He has been without a team since November 2023, and now he has confirmed that he will not return to the court.
“I’m officially moving on from the game of basketball and the NBA,” Green said on his YouTube channel. “It’s been a great run. I’m very proud to be able to walk away from the game. I’m at peace with it. I wasn’t at first, but I think it’s one of those things — once I turned 37, the body started reacting a little differently.” said Green.
This guard, who was once a member of Reno Bighorns, Austin Toros, Cleveland Cavaliers, Erie BayHawks, Philadelphia 76ers, Memphis Grizzlies, and even the European Ljubljana Olympia team during the 2011 lockout, spent the most successful part of his career with the San Antonio Spurs. With them, he won an NBA ring in 2014 and then participated in winning titles with Toronto in 2019 and the Lakers the following year.
In his NBA career, he averaged 8.7 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game. Green is retiring with 1,577 3-pointers, which ranks 43rd in NBA history. He is one of only 12 players to achieve this feat while shooting at least 40% from beyond the arc. Additionally, he ranks ninth in postseason 3-pointers, with a total of 315.
