De’Aaron Fox injury update: Will he be back for game 5 against the Warriors?
Kings’ De’Aaron Fox got injured in his left hand during the last game against the Golden State Warriors, who got away with the win by one point.
The NBA playoffs are known to be, in many cases, quite unpredictable, where the favorites may struggle, the underdogs may pull off the upset more than once, and where injuries can prove decisive during the series.
The Sacramento Kings-Golden State Warriors first-round clashes are having all of those ingredients so far, while both teams are now tied with two victories each.
Mike Brown’s players got an early 2-0 lead in the series, but the Warriors bounced back with a couple of wins that leave the tie very open.
In their last game, Steve Kerr’s team emerged victorious at Chase Center by a one-point difference (126-125) thanks to their starting five’s performance, led by Steph Curry with 32 points, five rebounds, and four assists.
Will De’Aaron Fox play in Game 5?
Sunday night was a very painful one for the Kings, who expected to take a 3-1 lead and be only one game away from advancing to the next playoff round.
However, they ended up losing the game by only one point after a bad third quarter and they saw how De’Aaron Fox got a finger fractured on his left hand in the last minutes in a sequence where he tossed up a floater after the whistle and was hit by Kevon Looney.
Losing Fox would be a huge mishap for Sacramento, as he has been their best player so far in the series against the Warriors, but according to the latest updates, the Kings have a reason to be optimistic.
“Kings guard De’Aaron Fox fractured the very tip of his left index finger in Game 4, but there’s still hope he will try and play Game 5 on Tuesday”, said NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski.
Fox is doubtful for Game 5 and will likely decide whether he plays or not before the start of the game. In case he finally ends up featuring in Game 5, he would need to play with a protective covering on the finger.
Fox has averaged 31.5 points on 44.7% shooting and put up 7.0 rebounds, 6.0 assists, and 2.5 steals in the four playoff games against the current NBA champions.
