Did Denver fire three players after their consecutive losses to Boston?

The NBA season is approaching, and the team’s preparations are entering the final phase. Many players are now fighting for the chance to join the rosters.

As the NBA season draws near, teams are in the midst of their last preparations. This consequently intensifies the competition for spots on the final roster of 15 (or 18 with two-way contracts). Many players who participated in the training camp are now facing uncertain futures without a team to call their own.

The Denver Nuggets are just one of the teams that have decided to release three players from their preseason roster. Following their two games in Abu Dhabi, where they lost to the reigning champions, the Boston Celtics, in back-to-back games, the 2023 champions have chosen to part ways with some of their players.

Who are the players released from the Nuggets roster?

The three players who will not wear Denver’s jersey next season are:

  • Jahmir Young
  • Jaylin Williams
  • Gabe McGlothan

All three players were invited to the training camp and are expected to join the Grand Rapids Gold in the G League.

The decision was reasonably expected, considering all three of them had what is known as “exhibit 10 contracts” (Exhibit 10). These contracts are for a minimum of one year and are not guaranteed. They are signed with basketball players trying to earn a spot on the team during the Summer League, and they can receive a bonus of $75,000 if they spend at least 60 days playing for their team’s branch in the G League.

Denver will play three more preseason duels before the start of the regular season (October 25 against the Oklahoma City Thunder). Their rivals for the games before the NBA League starts will be the Phoenix Suns, Oklahoma City Thunder, and Minnesota Timberwolves.
