Did Mavericks’ star Luka Doncic just break another Michael Jordan record?

Though his team may be down 1-0 in the NBA Finals, the Slovenian continues to stake his claim as the league’s best, and with this stat, it’s hard to argue.

Update:

If it wasn’t already clear, the Dallas Mavericks star is an elite player. With his performance in the second game of the 2024 NBA Finals he further cemented that point by surpassing His Airness, Michael Jordan.

Luka Doncic is not playing around

Knowing that they couldn’t afford to go 2-0 down to the Boston Celtics, the Mavericks were always going to come out hot in Game 2 of the 2024 NBA Finals. With that, we all knew that Luka Doncic in particular was going to bring heat. What we could not have expected is that he would do so in a way that is simply crazy. Indeed, with 23 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 assists by halftime, Doncic wasn’t just having a good night, he was having a record-breaking night.

With that stat line, the Slovenian star surpassed Michael Jordan in a rather unique way which you can see for yourself below. Of course, with the Celtics leading 1-0 in the series and by three at the half, there is still a long way to go in this series. On the other hand, if Doncic can keep putting up numbers like that, it will go a long way toward giving the Mavericks a shot at a title.

That said, it’s not just about Doncic and Co. is it? With a cheeky war of words between Mavs head coach Jason Kidd and Celtics starters Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum, there’s been a bit of spice added to this affair. At this point it remains early days in this one, but a loss tonight would not be a good thing for the Mavericks. Stay tuned!
