If you know anything about the Dallas Mavericks star, then you know that he talks as good as he plays. Indeed, Luka Doncic is known for having a sharp tongue and that appears to be one of the talking points following his team’s game 2 loss in the NBA Finals. Only this time, the Slovenian got into it with the owner of the Boston Celtics.

Luka Doncic and Wyc Grousbeck may have a problem with each other

On Sunday night, the Boston Celtics put down the Dallas Mavericks once again to go 2-0 up in the 2024 NBA Finals. With that said, it was not for lack of trying on the part of the Mavericks and most definitely Luka Doncic whose numbers on the night were good enough to break a record previously held by Michael Jordan. Yet amid the intensity of the night, one aspect definitely caught the eye and that was the back and forth between the Slovenian star and Boston Celtics owner Wyc Grousbeck who was sat courtside.

While the entirety of the situation was not captured by cameras, upon closer inspection of the video that was recorded, you can clearly see that Grousbeck who was seated directly behind the TD logo exchanged words with Doncic. As per reports, there was one moment in particular where Grousbeck appeared to hold up his arms to make the “T” technical foul gesture at Doncic who was inbounding the ball at the time. The Mavs’ star proceeded to nail his next shot at which point he gave Grousebeck an earful. This of course isn’t the first time Doncic has got into it with those were courtside, as we saw during Game 5 of the Western Conference finals against the Minnesota Timberwolves, when he took issue with a fan who waved a white handkerchief.

Nonetheless, Doncic has since downplayed the situation, stating that he did not know who Grousbeck was. Be that as it may, the situation will only serve to add more fuel to the fire in what has been an intense series so far. Now, 2-0 down, the Mavericks have no wiggle room which is to say Doncic would do well to focus on the game and less on the banter. As for Grousbeck, one has to imagine that this is a win for the franchise owner. What’s better than getting inside of the head of the most dangerous player on the opponent’s team? Game 3 is set for Thursday night. Don’t miss it!
