Update:

The Los Angles Lakers picked up their first win of the 2025/26 season on Friday night, cruising to a 110-128 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The Lakers win was powered by another superhuman performance from Luka Doncic, who put up 49 points against the Timberwolves. With the 43 points scored in the opener against the Golden State Warriors, Doncic now has a staggering 92 points from the first two games of the season.

That comfortably beats the Lakers record for the most points in the first two games of an NBA season, previously held by Jerry West. The legendary guard put up 81 points in the first two games of the 1969 season.

Speaking after the game, Doncic reflected on an impressive opening to his first full season with the Lakers: “I wish we won the first game, but obviously it’s a good comeback... I think Minnesota is a great team. We had to do a lot to win today. But myself, I feel great. I want to win every game.”

“I just want to forget about last season,” Doncic added. “I was trying to move on. I don’t really think about that first-round series.”

Alongside the 49 points, Doncic also recorded 11 rebounds and eight assists. Teammate Rui Hachimura paid tribute to Doncic’s performance in the postgame.

“He, of course, dominates the whole game so easily,” Hachimura said. “And it’s not some random team we played against. They’re a Western Conference finals team. So this is crazy.”
