Update:

David Jones-García turned heads in the NBA Summer League, and his standout performance has earned him a two-way contract with the San Antonio Spurs for the 2025-26 season. The Dominican-born guard will join a promising young roster led by Victor Wembanyama, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.

Who is David Jones-García?

Born in Santo Domingo in November 2001, Jones-García was named to the All-Summer League First Team after averaging 22 points and 6 rebounds per game in Las Vegas. He also impressed scouts with his sharpshooting, hitting 53% of his three-point attempts. As a versatile wing, he’ll add depth to the Spurs’ bench and compete for minutes with Devin Vassell, Julian Champagnie, and Keldon Johnson.

Still to make NBA debut

Though Jones-García has trained with NBA teams before, he has yet to make his official debut in the league. In July 2024, he signed a two-way deal with the Philadelphia 76ers but was waived before the season began. That opened the door for him to join the Mexico City Capitanes in the G League, where he quickly made a name for himself.

His strong play caught the attention of the Utah Jazz, who signed him to another two-way contract, allowing him to split time with their affiliate, the Salt Lake City Stars. However, he finished the season back with the Capitanes after being released by Utah.

Jones-García’s college career spanned four years and three programs. He began at DePaul, spent a season with St. John’s, and wrapped up his NCAA journey with the Memphis Tigers. Despite going undrafted in 2024, his resilience and growth have paved the way for another shot at the NBA.
