Doncic: “I watch more EuroLeague than NBA”

Luka Doncic isn’t worried about what his MVP competition is doing. He doesn’t even watch much NBA.

Mavericks star Luka Doncic is one of the NBA’s top scorers and he continues to make his case for MVP this season. He had another huge game with his 55th career triple-double (34 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists) in the Mavs’ victory over the New Orleans Pelicans on Saturday. But he doesn’t think about such trivial things.

Doncic prefers EuroLeague to NBA

Doncic used to play for Real Madrid in the Euroleague and he often talks about his former team as well as the Slovenian national team. Several of his Slovenian teammates play in the Euroleague and Doncic keeps up with it. That’s not too surprising, but you may think he keeps up with the NBA just as much, if not more, considering it’s where he is playing currently. But when asked if he follows what Nikola Jokic and Joel Embiid and his other MVP competitors are doing, Doncic said simply, “not really”.

“I watch some NBA games, but I watch more EuroLeague than NBA,” said Doncic. “But if it’s a really good game and it’s on TV, I’ll watch it.”

So nonchalant!

Doncic is dominating the NBA now, averaging 34 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 8.7 assists per game. But he also dominated the EuroLeague. He won the EuroLeague in the 2017-18 season and was the Regular Season MVP and Final Four MVP and was placed in the All-EuroLeague First Team.

If Doncic wins MVP this year, it would be a first for him. And though that is a huge accomplishment, Doncic seems to not really care about it at all.
