Doncic - “I’d rather go back to my farm in Slovenia”

Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic joked with media after Dirk Nowitzki said he could break his record of 21 year with a franchise.

Luka Doncic came close to a triple double with 32 points, nine rebounds, and nine assists in the Dallas Mavericks’ victory over the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday.

Mavs unveil Dirk Nowitzki statue

That same day, Christmas Day, the Mavericks honored their best and most famous player, Dirk Nowitzki. They unveiled a 24-foot statue of the German legend outside of the American Airlines Arena and held a ceremony in his honor. Nowitzki is the only NBA player to spend all 21 seasons with the same franchise. On the statue are the words “loyalty never fades”.

23-year-old Luka Doncic has recently become the new face of the franchise, and Nowitzki said he hopes that Doncic will be the player to break his record for seasons spent with the same team.

“I don’t know about 20 years,” Doncic joked. “That’s a long time to play basketball. I’d rather go back to my farm in Slovenia.”
