Doncic: “It’s incredible to be in comparisons with those guys”

When Doncic set an NBA record with his 60-21-10 triple-double, he made history in more ways than one.

Mavericks star Luka Doncic’s reached several milestones when he hit his historic triple double of 60 points, 21 rebounds, and 10 assists in the Mavs’ overtime win against the Knicks on Tuesday.

1-13,884

That is the new stat Doncic created with his night on Tuesday. In the last 20 years, NBA teams who were down by nine points with 35 seconds left had a record of 0-13,884. The Mavericks were down by nine points against the Knicks with 33 seconds left on the clock. Doncic, who purposely missed a free throw to get the jumper off the rebound and tie the game, changed the aforementioned statistic to 1-13,884. The Mavs won 126-121 in overtime.

“I mean, that was pretty impressive,” said Doncic. “The whole team just kept going. [Teams were] 0-13,000+ games and with 35 seconds [left]. That’s impressive. Everybody just kept it together. We believed.”

Though Doncic remains modest, always giving credit to his teammates, he did reach several milestones on Tuesday. (Stats per Mavs PR)
