Giannis Antetokounmpo drops cryptic clue about NBA future: here’s what it means for the Bucks, Knicks and Nets
In a chat with streamer IShowSpeed, the two-time MVP teased where he might play next, and where he definitely won’t.

There has been plenty of recent speculation surrounding the future of Giannis Antetokounmpo, which began after the Milwaukee Bucks were eliminated in the first round of the 2025 NBA playoffs for the third year in succession. They then intensified after his unhappiness at the Bucks’ decision to waive nine-time All-Star Damian Lillard ahead of the 2025/26 season became known.
Giannis contemplates Knicks and Nets moves
However, Bucks fans may have reason to feel optimistic about the 30-year-old extending his 12-year stay in Milwaukee following a conversation with streamer IShowSpeed.
Conversely, it appears as if there is little hope for the New York Knicks or the Brooklyn Nets of securing Giannis’ services, based on his living preferences.
Antetokounmpo, it seems, has no desire to reside in a part of the United States where “tax is bad,” as IShowSpeed puts it.
“A lot of people have tried to convince me to go and play there (New York), and stuff,” revealed the “Greek Freak”. A simple “nah” appears to have shattered any dreams the Knicks or the Nets might have had of capturing the two-time MVP.
Instead, Giannis, who is under contract until the 2026-27 season, with a $62.8 million player option for 2027-28. dropped a big hint that he wouldn’t be going anywhere…or did he?
“Probably. We’ll see. I love Milwaukee.”

Antetokounmpo’s “love” for Milwaukee
“So you staying in Milwaukee?” was the streamer’s follow-up question.
“Uh, probably, probably…we’’ll see…I love Milwaukee,” came the response.
But while Antetokounmpo’s comments hinted at loyalty to Milwaukee, the hesitation in his voice leaves the door slightly ajar. For now, Bucks fans can breathe a little easier, although it may not be enough for the speculation surrounding Giannis’ future to go away.
