Update:

Giannis Antetokounmpo has reiterated his desire to win another championship with the Milwaukee Bucks but stopped short of committing entirely to the team.

Earlier this week ESPN reported that the Bucks are in discussions with the New York Knicks over a proposed deal including Antetokounmpo. Speaking on Wednesday, the two-time NBA Most Valuable Player expressed his continued faith in the Bucks project, despite recent failures in the postseason.

“I’ve said this many times: I want to be in a situation that I can win,” Antetokounmpo explained. “I believe in this team. I believe in my teammates. I’m here to lead this team to wherever we can go. It’s definitely going to be hard. We’re going to take it day by day, but I’m here. So all the extra stuff does not matter.”

However he refused to commit entirely to the Bucks, admitting that he would consider a trade in the future if it aids his hunt for another championship.

He said: “I’ve communicated with my teammates, communicated with the people I respect and love, that the moment I step on this court or in this facility, I wear this jersey, the rest does not matter. I’m locked into whatever I have in front of me. Now, if in six, seven months I change my mind, I think that’s human, too.”

It’s temptation. That starts when the season ends until the season begins,” Antetokounmpo continued. “There’s going to be a lot of people that are going to approach me or approach my agent and they’re going to say this is a possibility, that’s a possibility ... but at the end of the day, ultimately, I’m going to make a decision.”

Still only 30 years old, there is plenty to suggest that Antetokounmpo has a lot more to offer as an elite talent in the NBA. He was selected as the Eastern Conference’s All-Star captain for the 2019, 2020, 2023 and 2024 seasons, highlighting his continued high performance level.

Antetokounmpo’s commitment to Milwaukee has become a defining part of his story so far. In an era when many stars switch teams, he has remained loyal to the Bucks and signed multiple extensions. For now, he continues to anchor a team expected to contend for another title and his impact on the Bucks and the city of Milwaukee has been historic.
