Giannis: “I want other people to feel that my game is boring”

Giannis Antetokounmpo put up a career-high 55 points in the Milwaukee Bucks’ 123-113 win over the Washington Wizards.

Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo put up a career-high 55 points plus 10 rebounds and seven assists in their game against the Washington Wizards. They beat the Wizards 123-113, ending Washington’s five-game winning streak.

“[Antetokounmpo] has been playing with this determination, this willingness in games,” said Bucks coach Mike Budenholzer. “Tonight, we were able to win it, and he has just been phenomenal.”

Giannis wants people to think his game is “boring”

Antetokounmpo has now scored more than 50 points in four games in his career, but 55 was a career-high. He has put up at least 40 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists in each of his last three games. The two-time MVP said he wants to get to a point where people consider his game “boring”. For a player of his caliber, arguably the best in the world right now, I doubt that will ever be the case, but I see what he means. The Greek Freak wants it to be normal that he just plays like a superstar every single night.

“I want to have fun, I want to enjoy the game, I want to create art as much as I can. And I want to get in a position - which I think I already have gotten to that position - that my game is boring,” said Antetokounmpo. “I just do what I do and people don’t talk about it because it becomes boring.”

For reference, the only other NBA players who have put up at least 40/10/5 in three games were Elgin Baylor in 1961 and 1963 and Russell Westbrook in 2016. And the only other Bucks players to score at least 40 in three games straight were Flynn Robinson in 1969 and Abdul-Jabbar in 1972. So, yeah…he is doing incredible things.

“Guys like LeBron [James] have been great since 2003, and it’s 2023,” said Antetokounmpo. “I want to be one of those guys.”

Antetokounmpo is averaging a career-high 32.8 points, 11.8 rebounds, and 5.2 rebounds on 53.6% shooting from the field.

“I want other people to feel that my game is boring, but I don’t get bored,” said Antetokounmpo. “The greats, the best players, never get bored.”
