Golden State Warriors 103 vs 90 Boston Celtics summary: stats and highlights | Game 6 NBA Finals
The Golden State Warriors are Champions of the NBA for the fourth time in eight years after defeating the Boston Celtics in Game 6 of the Finals. Steph Curry was named Finals MVP for the first time and had 34 points in 103-90 victory.
Warriors trio brings fourth title Golden State
The trio of Steph Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green join an elite group of NBA players with four rings, after a long two years of playoff anonymity.
It was a two years full of player departures, and catastrophic injuries that looked like it was on the verge of ending the Warriors dynasty. But once the trio of Dray, Klay and Curry were reunited at the turn of the new year, the Warriors championship pedigree rose to the surface.
After handing the Boston Celtics back-to-back losses for the first time since January, the Warriors would have to go into the hostile grounds of TD Garden and take a third straight game from the Celtics to lift the Larry O'Brien trophy.
Both teams exchange blows in first quarter
Early on it looked like we were destined for a 7th game when the Celtics jumped out to a 14-2 lead in the first two and a half minutes of the game. The veteran Warriors were unphased by the early body blow, and responded with a run of their own to end the first quarter.
They scored the last 16 points of the opening quarter and extended that run into the second quarter for a total of 21 straight points to take double digit lead. After their slow start, the Warriors would end the half on a 52-25 run to go into half time with a 15 point lead.
The Celtics 36-year old veteran Al Horford sparked a third quarter run which ignited the TD Garden crowd and gave Boston hope. He had three three pointers and scored 12 points in the quarter, but Jayson Tatum was kept quiet after the halftime break and the Celtics couldn’t keep up.
Curry win first Finals MVP
Curry continued to keep the Celtics at an arm’s length as he exchanged blows with Jaylen Brown who led Boston in scoring with 34 points. The Golden State defense was fantastic all season long, and proved to be decisive yet again in Game 6. They kept NBA First Team member Jayson Tatum to just 13 points and 2 in the second half.
With a double digit lead for most of the fourth quarter, the defense was able to fend off the Celtics comeback bid and Curry ended the night with 34 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. Andrew Wiggins had another fantastic night in the close out game posting 18 points, 6 rebound, 5 assists and 4 steals.
In his eighth finals, and after winning his fourth NBA Championship, Steph Curry was finally named Finals MVP for the first time after averaging 31.6 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists.

Nothing has changed for the Celtics starting five. Tatum will have to be fantastic, but they will need everyone stepping up tonight in Game 6.
For the third straight game Otto Porter Jr. is in the starting five. The Warriors won both of the previous two games he started. Will Golden State make it three straight and take the NBA Title in Boston tonight?
Tonight's odds
According to Bet365.com Boston Celtics come into Game 6 as 3.5 point favorites, with the Over/Under set at 211. All series I have said these two teams are going to a Game 7. That means that Boston have to win tonight right? As logical as that may seem, I’m taking the Warriors. I think we get our first tight game that goes down to the wire. I still think the Celtics will win, but the Warriors will cover the 3.5 points.
Tatum's toughtest test
Jayson Tatum has come under criticism in his first NBA Finals of his young career. He is coming off of a Game 5 in which he had 27 and 10, and is averaging 23.2 points a game, but the First Team All-NBA selection has yet to be decisive for the Celtics. There is no better time to show up and change the series than in an elimination game on your own home court.
The calm before the storm. TD Garden will be rocking tonight in Boston as the Celtics look to even the series at 3-3.
Can Curry bounce back?
Curry had an off night in Game 5, but he has been the man for Golden State all series, and for the entire playoffs. Last game was the first time he went for under 29 points since closing out the Mavericks in Game 5 of the Western Conference Finals. He is averaging 30.6 points a game in the the Finals, and grabbing nearly six rebounds a game.
History favors the Warriors to win it all
There have been 30 previous NBA Finals that have been tied at 2-2 after four games. In those 30 Finals, the winner of Game 5 has gone on to win the title 22 times. That’s an outrageous percentage of 73.3%. Golden State have the odds in their favor, but Boston are back home looking to force a Game 7 in Golden State.
Wiggins leading Warriors in Game 4 and 5 wins
If the Warriors win the title, Andrew Wiggins won’t win the MVP of the Finals but without his clutch performances throughout this series Golden State would probably have already been knocked out of this series. His rebounding has been just as important if not more important for the Warriors in the last couple games. In Game 4, he had 17 points and 16 rebounds coming off a loss in which the Celtics crushed Golden State on the boards. He had 13 rebounds in his 26 point night in Game 5 and led the Warriors on a night when Steph Curry went cold.
Curry ready to shake off Game 5
Steph Curry has been the go to scorer for the Warriors in this series, but struggled from the field in Game 5. He comes into tonight expecting that won’t be the case in the close out game in Boston. "Obviously, track record says I shoot the ball better the next game," said Curry. "Looking forward to that bounce back."
It looks like he's already shooting the ball better in the warmups.
Tatum thinking about Game 6 only
Boston knows the road to the title is an uphill one. They have to win both of the next two games, but Jayson Tatum is focused on one game at a time. "You know, I've said it before: You better be confident, right?" Tatum said. "We ain't got to win two in one day. We just got to win one game on Thursday. We've been in this situation before. So it's not over. Got to win on Thursday. That's all we got to worry about right now."

It's the biggest game of the year, and the biggest game in over a decade for the Celitcs who walked into TD Garden rocking their Game 6 drip.
Game 5 recap
The Warriors got off to a quick start in the first quarter of Game 5, building up an early double digit lead. Golden State came out the more physical side and the defense dominated from the tip. Boston missed their first 12 three pointers of the game as Andrew Wiggins set the pace for the Warriors with 16 first half points. Jayson Tatum led a third quarter charge that saw Boston take a brief lead, but Jordan Poole buzzer beater at the end quarter gave the lead and momentum to Golden State going into the final 12 minutes. As so often the case in this series, defense was the decider on Monday night. Boston was held to just five points in the first seven minutes of the fourth quarter and Wiggins scored 10 of his 26 in that span to secure the 104-94 win in Game 5.
