Golden State Warriors 126 vs 134 Los Angeles Clippers summary: stats and highlights | NBA
The Los Angeles Clippers pulled ahead of the Warriors in the Western Conference playoff picture with their win over Golden State on Wednesday night. Steph Curry dropped 50 points, but Kawhi Leonard’s 30 led a Clippers team that had six in double digits to seal 134-126 victory.
Clips make it four straight
The Clippers had won three straight, and looked like a team that is finally starting to catch a rhythm with all of the new additions since the trade deadline. The Warriors have been a fantastic home team all season, but have been dreadful away from the Chase Center. The game against the Clippers was their first of a five game road swing, and were looking for their first away win since January.
Both teams’ super stars came out and dictated the tone as Steph Curry and Kawhi Leonard got their sides going off the block. Curry had 12 in the first quarter, but Leonard was doing a bit of everything in the opening 12 minutes of the game. He had 10 points, 6 rebounds and was getting his teammates involved, something that took the Warriors much too long to go.
Despite turning the ball over 12 times in the first half, the Warriors were keeping pace with the Clippers, largely because of the play from Curry. Thompson was nowhere to be found after dropping 33 in the first half of the last game against the Suns, while Kawhi’s sidekick Paul George showed just how dangerous this team can be when they are clicking.
Westbrook finding his way in LA
It was a three point game after the second quarter, and Curry would save his best for after the break. He ignited for 21 points hitting three pointer after three pointer and dazzling the crowd at the Crypto.com Arena. Curry caught fire, but Eric Gordon hit the Warriors with a counter of 14 third quarter points after going scoreless in the first half.
Gordon was a difference maker but so was Russell Westbrook who looks to have accepted his role in the black and blue side of LA. He had 15 points on Wednesday night, but even more importantly, he played with energy, hustle, and heart as he continues to win over Clippers nation.
Kawhi and Clips eyeing top 4 seed
Curry continued his fantastic night into the fourth quarter and eventually reached 50 points, but as we have seen so often with the Warriors this season, they couldn’t get stops on the road when they needed them. Kawhi finished the game with 30 points and 8 rebounds while George had 24 and 7 assists to lead the Clips to their fourth straight win.
LA now take sole possession of fifth place with the win over Golden State on Tuesday night. The Warriors will now head East looking to win as many games as they can for the rest of this five game road trip, while the Clippers will be at home for five of their next six games.
Kawhi might have had a team high 30 points, but George ended it with this three ball to put the Warriors to the sword.

How the West stands
Taking a look at the Western Conference, we see these two teams locked in a fight to stay out of the Play-In spots, but all the while eyeing a chance to host the first round series in the playoffs. The Denver Nuggets are the pace setters in the West at 46-23 despite their four game losing streak. The Warriors and the Clippers have a record of 36-33, but it’s GS who are in 5th place with the tie breaker against the Clippers. They are both 10 games back of the Nugs and site just a game about the Timberwolves in the first Play-In spot with the 7 seed. The Thunder, Mavs and Lakers are a game behind Minnesota with the final Play-In spots while the Jazz and Pelicans are just three games behind the 5th and 6th seed, but they would fail to make the post season if the season ended today. As you can see things are very tight in the West.
