Golden State Warriors 105 vs 113 Los Angeles Lakers summary: stats and highlights | NBA
The Los Angeles Lakers got a much needed win against the Golden State Warriors on Sunday afternoon from the Crypto.com Arena. Anthony Davis had a monstrous performance with 39 points, and eight rebounds in the Lakers 113-105 home win.
Curry back, LeBron out
It was the fourth game that LeBron James was forced to miss after being suffering a tendon injury in his foot last week. Golden State came into the day in the midst of the five game win streak, and got their superstar, Steph Curry back after being sidelined for a month.
While Curry took a while to warm up, the Lakers took no time jumping out to a big, early lead. The Warriors have had trouble on the road, and most of the time their struggles come from slow starts in the first quarter. Sunday was no different. Anthony Davis and the Lakers hopped out to a 19 point lead in the opening minutes.
The Lakers went cold to end the first quarter and into the second quarter, which allowed Steph Curry and the Warriors to close the gap. Curry went scoreless in the first quarter, but had 8 straight points mid way through the second quarter to brought Golden State to within a point.
Lakers hold off Curry charge in the fourth
Every time it seemed like the Warriors would take the lead, Anthony Davis would come up with a big shot to calm the Lakers nerves and stretch the advantage back out. Golden State led 7-5 early in the first half and would never take the lead again.
With no LeBron it couldn’t be just Anthony Davis carrying LA to victory. He got some help as five other Lakers scored double digits which helped fend off Curry’s 19 fourth quarter points. Curry ended the night with 27, Thompson had 22, but in the end Anthony Davis gave Golden State too many problems down low and brought the Warriors win streak to an end on the day Steph Curry returned.
Davis didn't just have 39 points, he was dishing the rock making sure that everyone got a piece of the pie on Sunday afternoon.

The West
Taking a look at the Western Conference standings we see the Warriors starting to surge up the board after their five game win streak. They are currently 34-30, and sitting in fifth place just a game behind the Phoenix Suns who have the fourth and final home court spot in the first round of the playoffs. The Mavericks are a game behind the Warriors and are a currently in a battle with the Phoenix Suns in the first game of a busy NBA Sunday. The Lakers still have a long road ahead of them if they want to get into the playoffs. They are sitting in 11th place, which means if the season ended today they would miss the Play-In Tournament. They are one game behind the 10th placed Pelicans and the 9th placed Jazz and just three games back of the Mavericks in the sixth spot which would keep them from playing in the Play-In Tournament.
LA calling on AD
With no LeBron James, Anthony Davis is going to have to be the man in LA for the next few weeks. He’s a bonafide super star that has shown he is capable of carrying a team in the past, and now it’s his job to be the facilitator on a team that has just been thrown together in the trade deadline. The Lakers playoff chances rest on the shoulder of The Brow.
