In the run up to the Finals, conventional wisdom was favoring the Warriors and the Stephen Curry-Klay Thompson duo based on their experience in these type of situations. With a combined 123 Finals appearances under their belt, this duo certainly have the edge on the Celtics shooting duo of Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum, who have none.

This is now the Warriors sixth Finals appearance in the last eight years, but in an era of superstar pairings, this one might just favor the upstarts.

While Curry is the greatest shooter in basketball today, Tatum can match his production from just about anywhere on the court. Now that he has become more consistent from the 3-point range, Tatum is a true threat to top 30 points on any given night.

Steph Curry has the edge on Tatum in terms of experience, but the young Celtic superstar is having the post season of his life.

Beside these two are Klay Thompson and Jaylen Brown in the shooting guard position, making both teams a double barrelled scoring threat that can derail either opponent.

With Thompson’s long road to recovery seeming to be bearing fruit, he is able to put up threes all night long. With his catch-and-shoot, “three and D” style, Thompson gives the Warriors a much-needed edge on the other side of the paint.

Jaylen Brown has perhaps less of the classic traits that you might look for in this type of guard, but he has a more fluid style on the floor, making chances for himself and putting up 30 points in the process.

It all comes down to feeding the main guy. Tatum might be the hotter of the two at the moment, but he still needs to get the ball in space. Whichever of the number two men can most consistently assist their team’s main weapon will more than likely see their team win the series.
