Michael Jordan celebrates 60th birthday with Make-A-Wish donation

According to reports, Michael Jordan will be celebrating his 60th birthday on Friday 16th, February, and he intends to do so by making a donation of $10 million to Make-A-Wish. In case you’re wondering that is the largest donation ever made by an individual in the 43-years that the organization has been in existence. Speaking about his decision to celebrate his birthday in such a way, Jordan expressed his hope that he could inspire others to help in the realization of the dreams and wishes, of other children who were still waiting for such a day to come.

“For the past 34 years, it’s been an honor to partner with Make-A-Wish and help bring a smile and happiness to so many kids,” Jordan said. “Witnessing their strength and resilience during such a tough time in their lives has truly been an inspiration.”

Michael Jordan and Mak-A-Wish go way back

It’s interesting to note, that the 6-time NBA champion has maintained a close relationship with the foundation since way back in 1989. Across that time, Jordan has granted wishes to countless children all over the world. Indeed, he remains one of the most requested celebrity wish-granters to this very day. To that end, he was even named Make-A-Wish Chief Wish Ambassador in 2008 for what the organization referred to as the “life-changing impacts he has had on wish kids and their families.” Fittingly, Jordan again made clear his hopes. “I can’t think of a better birthday gift than seeing others join me in supporting Make-A-Wish so that every child can experience the magic of having their wish come true,” he said.
