How many rounds are there in the NBA draft? How many players are selected?
Find out how many total picks are in the 2022 NBA Draft, as well as other related information regarding the Thursday event.
The 2022 NBA Draft will mark the 76th year of the event and will take place Thursday, June 23 at 8:00 p.m. ET at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
Since 1989, the NBA Draft has included two rounds, which is less than the entry draft round of other US sports leagues usually consisting of seven rounds, at the minimum. Each draft usually contains sixty players, but because the Bulls and Heat forfeited their second-round picks due to seemingly engaging in discussions with player representatives before the start of the 2021 free agency period, there are 58 total picks this year.
All 30 teams in the NBA participate in the annual draft, and quite often, new players bring surprises and can be leading players of teams later. That’s why the location of choice is a factor clubs keep in mind.
