When the Golden State Warriors appointed Steve Kerr as head coach in 2014, he already had five NBA championships tucked in his belt as a player. Since then, he has added three trophies as a coach and is now on his way to a fourth.

Kerr has delivered wins for the Warriors organization, yet he earns only a fraction of the league’s star players.

How much does Steve Kerr make?

According to Sportico, Golden State’s head coach earns $9.5 million annually. This cannot be considered a small change, but it is still only a fraction of the paycheck of Warriors star point guard Steph Curry, who earns almost $46 million a year.

The two-time MVP has the highest annual salary in the league, so this amount is imposing. However, Kerr ranks number two among the highest-paid coaches in the NBA, so his rate is already close to the maximum for his position.

Kerr is second only to Gregg Popovich, who leads the San Antonio Spurs and is the winningest coach in the history of the NBA. Popovich earns a paycheck of $11 million a year.

Kerr is in sixth place on the list of coaches with the largest number of championships, following Phil Jackson, who has 11, Red Auerbach with 9, and John Kundia, Pat Riley, and Popovich, who are tied with five trophies apiece.
