Indiana Pacers 136 vs 123 Milwaukee Bucks summary: stats and highlights | NBA
The Indiana Pacers went into Milwaukee without their top scorer, and shocked the league leading Bucks on Thursday night at Fiserv Forum. Andrew Nembhard led a Pacers side that had eight players in double digits in the 136-123 win.
Pacers made it work without Haliburton
Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Bucks had won 21 of their last 23 games as they skyrocketed to the top of the Eastern Conference. Milwaukee returned home after a successful three game west coast swing, and going up against the lowly Pacers, it was no secret that Bucks were heavy favorites. Tyrese Haliburton sitting on the bench in street clothes only worsed the odds for Indy.
The Bucks came out firing after getting a couple days off before making their return to the Fiserv Forum. They wasted no time jumping out to a double digit lead in a 40 point first quarter.
Everything was going smoothly until Giannis picked up his third foul in the second quarter, and while it didn’t have an immediate affect it would take it’s toll on Milwaukee. The Bucks went to halftime with a nine point lead as Khris Middleton and Bobby Portis picked up the slack with the Greek on the bench.
Indiana flirting with the Play-In
Indiana came out scorching in the third quarter, hitting on 8/13 three pointers and posting 46 points in the 12 minutes after the break. On top of the shooting spree, Giannis picked up his fourth foul just two minutes into the second half. He missed a big chunk of the quarter and spent the night walking on eggshells when he was on the court.
Up by three going into the final stanza, the Pacers still had their work cut out for them, but Andrew Nembhard and Aaron Nesmith took the stage and carried Indiana to a as much as an 18 point lead in the fourth quarter. Nembhard ended the game with 24 points, while Nesmith went 6/9 from downtown in his 22 point night. The game was still within reach with under two minutes to go but Myles Turner capped the game with a posterizing slam on Giannis to bury the Bucks.
The Bucks momentary lapse won’t cost them the top spot in the East or strip them of title league leaders, but it will make them scratch their head and refocus for the remaining month of the regular season. The Pacers need every win they can get, and this can be considered a huge win in a game that everyone had them written off. They now sit just a half game out of the 10th and final Play-In position currently held by the Washington Wizards.
Myles Turner cocked it back and put a two time MVP on a poster to bury the Bucks late on.

MVGiannis
No one is surprised that Giannis Antetokoumpo is back in the running for the NBA MVP, and the race between him, Nikola Jokic and Joel Embiid couldn’t be tighter. Jokic is averaging a triple double, Embiid gets 40 any time he wants to and Giannis is one of the top scorers and has the second most rebounds per night. Coming into the Pacers game is getting 31.5 points and 11.9 rebounds oh, and his team has the best record in the league.

Pacers pulling up
The Pacers were without their leading scorer Tyrese Haliburton for the two game series in Detroit, and it looks like the knee injury will keep him sidelined for a few more games at least. That means it will be up to Andrew Nembhard and the rest of the Pacers team to step up and make up for those missing 20.8 points.

Eastern Conference playoff picture
Taking a look at the Eastern Conference Standings, we see the Bucks at the top of the table with a record of 50-19. With their win over the Suns, they became the first team to reach 50 wins, and the first team in the league to officially qualify for the post season. They are 2.5 games in front of the skidding Celtics and 3.5 games up on the Sixers. The Pacers meanwhile, are currently in 12th place and sitting a game out of the 10th and final Play-In spot which is being occupied by the Washington Wizards. Things aren’t as tight as they are in the West, but just three games separate the 12th seed Pacers and the 8th seed Atlanta Hawks with four weeks left in the season.
Giannis back at Fiserv
Giannis Antetokoumpo has had games of 46 and 36 since coming back from a brief spell on the sidelines in which he missed three games. He is in MVP form, and more importantly for the Bucks and the city of Milwaukee, he has this team ready to take home court advantage throughout the playoffs. Giannis hasn’t played infront of his home fans since March 4th against the Sixers, and already had a big game against the Pacers once this year, so expect fireworks in his return to the Fiserv Forum.

Bucks are rolling
The Bucks wrapped up a three game West coast road trip with a win over the KD-less Phoenix Suns. Once again it was Giannis Antetokounmpo terrorizing the Suns defense, as he went for 36 and 11 rebounds in the 116-104 win. The Greek went to the line 24 times while the Suns went to the line just 16 times as a team. PHO coach Monty Williams and Devin Booker were not shy to express their disappointment in the way the game was called as their third straight.

Pacers coming off loss in DET
The Pacers played back to back games in Detroit and ended up splitting the series against the Pistons. They won the first game by a narrow margin, but Detroit got their revenge on Monday night with a twenty point win to drop the Pacers to seven games under .500. The Pacers suffered from a sluggish start in the first quarter that saw them go down by 18 and the Pistons never looked back from there. Tyrese Haliburton was sideline for both games in Detroit, which left Jordan Nwuoa having to pick up the slack with a Pacers high 20 points off the bench, but it wasn’t enough to erase the huge first quarter deficit.
