Is age finally having an effect on the Lakers’ LeBron James as he suffers foot soreness?
The Lakers are looking at a very unpleasant season if they continue as they are and to make matters worse, their star has been sidelined.
Adding to an already complicated situation in Los Angeles, the Lakers are now set to do without their star and talisman, as they prepare to take on the Utah Jazz.
From bad to worse: LeBron James and others to miss date with Utah Jazz
The Lakers just can’t catch a break. Following their loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday, the Lakers now sit on a 2-7 record as they prepare to face the Utah Jazz on Monday night. Unfortunately, the bad news doesn’t stop there either, as the team is now set to be without the services of star LeBron James, who is reportedly suffering from foot soreness. Worse yet, James isn’t the only key player who will be absent. Lonnie Walker IV and Patrick Beverley will both be absent with non-covid-19 illnesses.
Curiously, James himself had to cope with the said same illness just last week, which is to say the Lakers’ locker room has a problem. At any rate, the more important point is that James is now set to miss his first game of the season. Indeed, this is not likely to be the last time either, as his condition is the common result of aging and the season is long. With that said, the harsh reality is that even if James was present, Monday’s game would still be tricky. In the Jazz, they face a team that for starters, beat them three days ago and secondly is sitting on an 8-3 record.
What will the Lakers do without LeBron James?
It’s highly likely that the Lakers will turn to Russell Westbrook as their prime creator on the floor, however, the trouble with that is that Westbrook has actually been decent off the bench so far. Is there a risk that giving him a starting spot might actually create a disruptive effect on his mentality? On the other hand, does the answer to that question even matter, when considering how badly the Lakers have been this season? Their offense had played only slightly better than their awful record indicates, which is not a good thing. Like we said before, the season is long which means if you’re a Lakers fan, it’s likely to be especially so.
