Jason Kidd has “no idea” about Doncic’s health
Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic was out of sorts in their blowout loss to the Celtics, but coach Jason Kidd seemed clueless as to why.
The matchup between Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic and Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum turned out to be a lot less exciting than anticipated. Doncic played one of his worst games of the season, putting up 23 points and three assists while shooting 7-of-23 from the field. Meanwhile, Tatum had a 29-point triple double and the Celtics snapped the Mavs’ seven-game winning streak in a 124-95 victory.
Is Luka Doncic sick?
Something was definitely not right with Doncic. He was coughing uncontrollably and grabbing his chest on the court and there was much speculation that he is sick. He was also playing on a hurt ankle.
When Mavericks coach Jason Kidd was asked about Doncic’s health, though, he said, “you’ll have to ask him”.
“He looked like himself out there,” Kidd said. “He just missed some shots. He had some good looks, it just didn’t go down. But I don’t know about his health. I know he did leave at one point, but I don’t know what the cause of that was.”
With the coughing and chest grabbing, there has been speculation that Doncic could possibly have Covid-19, with cases of a new variant increasing in the U.S. If that’s the case, Doncic could be out for as much as two weeks. That’s bad news for the Mavs, who don’t have a lot of depth at point guard. Without Doncic, the Mavericks struggle to win games.
