Jokic notches triple-double, sets record in NBA Finals debut

Two-time MVP winner Nikola Jokic finally made his NBA Finals debut and he sone in the Nuggets’ 104-90 win over the Heat.

Update:

Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic has won the NBA MVP twice, but neither year did he make it to the NBA Finals with his team. This year, Joel Embiid won the MVP, but the Sixers are long gone from the Finals and Jokic is in it, for the first time, and he’s right where he belongs.

In his NBA Finals debut in Game 1 against the Miami Heat, Jokic notched a triple-double with 27 points, 14 assists, and 10 rebounds. His 14 assists broke the record for the most assists by a center in NBA Finals history. He is just the second player in the last 25 years to have 10 assists by halftime in an NBA Finals game, after LeBron James, who did so in 2017.

“The most important thing is to win a game,” Jokic said after the game. “I’m trying to win a game in any possible way.”
