Jokic praises Djokovic as ambassador of Serbia

Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic praises fellow Serbian and tennis legend Novak Djokovic, but says the two of them cannot be compared.

The Denver Nuggets just made it to the NBA Finals after defeating the Los Angeles Lakers in a 4-0 shutout Conference series. Nuggets star player and two-time MVP, Serbian Nikola Jokic is a big reason for their success up to this point. However, after beating the Lakers 113-111 in Game 4 on Monday, Jokic gave praise to another Serbian athlete - tennis star Novak Djokovic.

Djokovic is the World No. 1 in the ATP rankings for singles tennis and has held the top position for a record of 387 weeks in a record 12 different years. But not only is Djokovic outstanding on the court, but he’s also known for being a great human off the court. He served as a UNICEF Serbia Ambassador for four years and a gobal Goodwill Ambassador until 2020.

“He is the guy who represents Serbia in a much bigger scene,” said Jokic. “He’s really an idol to the kids in Serbia and not just on the court, but in the things his foundation is doing. I want to be like him.”
