Jonathan Kuminga injury update: Warriors confirm left knee diagnosis
The Golden State Warriors could be without the young star after he picked up a knock in the loss to the Dallas Mavericks.

The Golden State Warriors have confirmed that forward Jonathan Kuminga has suffered a left knee injury that will need further evaluation.
The 23-year-old picked up the injury in Thursday’s loss to the Dallas Mavericks. Midway through the second quarter Kuminga lost his footing and hyper-extended his left knee. He did not feature at all in the second half against Dallas.

Kuminga underwent an MRI scan on Friday and the team has confirmed that he will need reevaluation “in the coming days” to fully understand the extent of the injury.
Will the Kuminga injury affect a trade?
For Kuminga, this injury may have been the final act in an unhappy ending with Golden State. He was drafted by the Warriors in 2021 and initially showed great promise in the NBA.
However he has dropped from head coach Steve Kerr’s regular rotation in recent months and the 23-year-old is now eager to secure a move away.
The Warriors are expected to agree a trade for Kuminga before the league’s February 5 deadline. The injury is not expected to be a major issue but prospective teams will be eager to learn of the results from next week’s tests before agreeing a deal for a player set to earn $24.3 million next year.
