Knicks 118 - 115 76ers summary, stats, scores and highlights | NBA Playoffs Game 6
The second round series is all set. After the Pacers closed out the Bucks early Thursday night, they will meet the Knicks in the Conference Semifinals on Monday from Madison Square Garden.
The Villanova Wildcat went into his own home and broke the hearts of a fan base that used to cheer him on. He did it with class, he did it with skill, and he poked a little fun at Kenny Smith in the TNT Studio after the game. Hard not to root for a guy like Jalen Brunson.
Josh Hart had 16 points and 14 rebounds, 6 of them on the offensive end, but looked like he didn't want to take this three ball at first. Luckily for the Knicks fans he did and put NY up by three with under a half minute to go.
Brunson pulled this move out twice in the fourth quarter, and got and ones on both plays. He would miss the FT, and allow Maxey to tie the game up with an and one of his own, but the Knicks would get the last laugh.
Anunoby threw down this monster jam with under 3:00 to go and again, it looked like it was over, but Tyrese Maxey had other ideas.
Brunson hit this shot to put the Knicks up 8 with 3:30 to go, and it looked like New York was going to run away with the game, but Philly had one final push to make things interesting at the end of the 4th quarter.

Anunoby was brought to the Big Apple in the middle of the season for moments like this. He came up huge in the second half of the elimination game, tying up the game at the end of the third quarter and putting the Knicks in the lead in the 4th quarter with this three ball.
The Knicks had 20 offensive rebounds in Philly on Thursday night, and that was a big reason they won not just the game but the series. The Sixers led the entire third quarter, but this late three from OG Anunoby tied the game up heading into the final 12 minutes.
Buddy Hield changed the game after coming into the night scoring just two points in the series, and hadn't played in Game 4 and 5. He had 20 points and six threes off the bench to put the Sixers in the lead. Philly's bench outscored New York's 42-5 but the Knicks starters handled their business in the close out game.
Donte DiVencenzo was incredible all game and all series. He is always in the right place, and he always makes the right play. He's hustle. He's heart. But he's also a sharp shooter from downtown. He had three triples in the first quarterand ended the night with 23 points and 7 rebounds.
Joel Embiid was heroic all series, but his 39 points and 13 rebounds weren't enough to top the Knicks from Wells Fargo Center. Like Game 5, each team took turns dominating the first two quarters, but things got awfully tight in the final half.
The New York Knicks went into Philadelphia and closed out the Sixers in another game that went down to the wire in a slugfest of a first round series. Jalen Brunson had another 40 point game to lead his team to the victory and the Conference Semifinals.
After the late drama in Game 5 in New York, the Knicks went into Philly and threw the first punch in the opening quarter to take an electric crowd out of the game from the start. The Sixers would get back into the game, but they had just 9 points in the first 8 minutes.

WE ARE UNDERWAY FROM PHILLY!
Philly starters
We know it's going to be Tyrese Maxey and Joel Embiid setting the tone tonight for Philly, but they are going to need their other guys to step up like they did last game. Oubre, Lowry and Harris have to contribute and tonight on their home court.
Philly needs their fans
If you are a Philly fan, Game 4 was shameful. Sure, losing at home in the playoffs always hurts, but that's not what I'm talking about. The Well Fargo Center was overrun with Knicks fans, and in a town that lives and dies with it's sports teams, that caught everyone of guard. Tonight there have been steps taken to make sure the take over in the City of Brotherly love doesn't repeat itself tonight.
Embiid ready to go
It's fairly evident that Joel Embiid is nowhere near 100%, but that hasn't stopped him from being nearly as unstoppable as he always is. He has come into each and every game of this series questionable, but played in every game. Tonight he is listed as questionable, but you know as well as the Knicks do, he is playing. Our Roddy Cons has more.
A star was born
Philly has a star in the making, and I’m not talking about the reigning NBA MVP. Joel Embiid has been the reference point for the Sixers over the last few years but Tyrese Maxey has stepped into the spotlight and shined this season. Everyone knew he was going to have to be the one to step up when James Harden left for LA at the beginning of the season, but I don’t think many envisioned him having this sort of performance in the playoffs. He was the one to carry the Sixers at the end of the regular season when Joel Embiid missed two months with a torn meniscus, but he and the Sixers struggled without their big man. Now that Philly have their center back, Maxey has thrived in the series against the Knicks. He is giving 32.4 points, 5.2 rebounds and 7.2 assists in this series, and if the Sixers are going to stay alive he is going to have to put up similar numbers.
Brunson burning
If the Knicks pulled off the win in Game 5, we would be talking about Jalen Brunson being one of the faces of the next generation of stars in the NBA once the torch is passed down from LeBron, Steph and KD. Maxey’s late game heroics diverted that conversation a bit, but when you look at what Brunson has done in this series you can’t help to group in in the same category as Anthony Edwards, Luka Doncic and company. He’s had back to back 40 point games in the playoffs and finally it seems like New York has a star that is ready to carry the Knicks back to being regulars in the deep stages of the playoffs.
Game 5 recap
What a game it was on Tuesday night in the Garden. We were treated to one of the best games in recent memory on basketball’s biggest stage. Before things evened out in the last half of Game 5, both teams took turns dominating the opening quarters. New York went up by 10 in the first quarter, and Philly responded by taking a double digit lead in the second quarter. Both teams traded shares of the lead in the second half as the game went back and forth, but the Knicks looked destined to close out the series, up 6 with under a half minute to go in the 4th quarter. Tyrese Maxey single handily pulled off a heroic comeback to tie the game up scoring seven points in the final seconds of the game and sending the game to overtime where he and Joel Embiid polished off the miracle. Joel Embiid finished the game with a triple double, but had 9 turnovers in the win while Maxey posted 46 points on a night neither he, nor Philly fans will forget any time soon.
We are live from Wells Fargo Center
Hello everyone and welcome to Philly where the Sixers are here on the heels of a miracle. Tonight they look to keep the wind in their sails in another must win situation from Wells Fargo. This has been a physical, emotional series that has gone back and forth for the first five games and tonight should be no different. The Knicks will be hoping to close out the series on a court that is usually hostile territory, but in this series has proven to be a home away from home. Philly fans will try to change that tonight, with a little help from the Sixers owners.
