Lakers vs Grizzlies game 2 injury report: Will Ja Morant play?
The NBA community is waiting to know if the Memphis Grizzlies star will be ready to play in Game 2 against the Los Angeles Lakers.
The Memphis Grizzlies vs the Los Angeles Lakers tie was one of the most difficult to predict, as the Grizzlies were the better team during the regular season but the Lakers recovered Lebron James before the playoffs.
The LA franchise threw the first punch by winning the first game 112-128 thanks to their good teamwork and the scoring inspiration of their starting five.
However, one of the reasons why the hosts ended up losing the game was Ja Morant’s injury when Memphis were only four points behind the Lakers (105-101) with less than six minutes remaining.
The All-Star player drove to the basket against Davis, when his right hand appeared to bend in the wrong direction as he hit the court. Morant ended up leaving the court yelling in pain.
Will Ja Morant play in Game 2?
Morant underwent an MRI on Monday that revealed an aggravation of the bruising in the soft tissue of his hand.
It is the same injury Morant suffered during the last week of the regular season against the Milwaukee Bucks, said coach Taylor Jenkins.
According to NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski, the Grizzlies aren’t very optimistic about Morant’s chances of featuring in Game 2 despite the player hasn’t been ruled out of the game and is considered to be doubtful.
“They were always going to take this right up until the game time of Game 2 tomorrow night. I don’t sense a great deal of optimism around this Grizzlies team that Ja Morant will be ready to play in Game 2″, he said.
“I certainly think this is a team, an organization, preparing for the very real possibility they’re going to have to try to even this series without Ja Morant”, he added.
Meanwhile, the player, who admitted to playing in pain during the first match, could force his presence in their second game against the Lakers to try to help his team.
“I will do anything to be out there for my team. It’s pretty much, you know, how much I can tolerate. I feel like I can go out there and be somewhat myself. I will probably play but I don’t want to do anything to hurt my team”, Morant said after losing to the Lakers.
In 61 regular season appearances this term, the point guard averaged 26.2 points and 8.1 assists per game.
