The former Blazers and Spurs player could return to San Antonio as an assistant coach to help their great promise settle in.
Many of today’s great basketball experts are relishing Victor Wenbanyama’s arrival in the NBA. The 19-year-old has considerable physical attributes, but in spite of that, he remains one of those versatile, multi-positional players who is capable of fulfilling various functions within the team.
The NBA gives Wenbanyama’s official height as 7.4 feet (2.24 meters) - making him one of the tallest players in the greatest basketball league in the world. After surprising with his basketball and physical qualities, Wembanyama is the great promise for the future, who has been called to change the natural order of a centuries-old sport.
Although he joins the NBA with a reputation as a great star, Wembanyama will still need to work day by day on his physical, mental and technical strengths. One former NBA star could accompany him on that journey to glory and admitted that he would be only too pleased to help the teenager find his feet and develop his game with the Spurs.
Aldridge says, “Yup!”
In the last few hours, former Spurs and Blazers power forward LaMarcus Aldridge answered affirmatively when asked: “Would you be available to join San Antonio as a coach of some kind? I think you could be of great help to Wemby...” . His reply has generated a lot of excitement among those in the NBA community.
Wembanyama was drafted as the first overall pick this year by the San Antonio Spurs. He plays as a center/power forward blessed with boundless ability - he can shoot off the dribble, which makes him quite a unique species. His weakest points when it comes to playing inside are perhaps his general physical strength and technique near the rim - two areas in which Aldridge is an absolute master.
