LeBron James and how much time he has left to win a championship
The Los Angeles Lakers player is aware that age is an important factor and believes that he will probably no longer have opportunities to play big games.
The United States relied on outstanding performances from Stephen Curry and LeBron James to come back from a 17-point deficit against Serbia in the semifinals of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Curry achieved the second-highest scoring mark in the summer event’s history for a Team USA player, while James recorded his fourth triple-double in the Summer Games.
James, who plays for the Los Angeles Lakers, is an experienced leader guiding his team to a fifth consecutive Olympic gold. However, he acknowledges that age is a major factor and believes it’s likely that he won’t have any more opportunities to play in big games like the one this evening in Paris.
“I’m 39 years old, it’s my 22nd season,” James said in statements reported by People and BasketNews. “I don’t know how many opportunities and moments I’m going to get like to be able to compete for something big and playing big games. And tonight was a big game.””
During the Paris Games, ‘The King’ achieved his second triple-double of the Games, scoring 16 points, grabbing 12 rebounds, and dishing out 10 assists against Serbia. The only other players to have achieved a triple-double in the history of the Games were Alexander Belov at Montreal in 1976 and Luka Doncic at Tokyo 2020.
LeBron is unique in Olympic history
When LeBron James retires, he will own most of the Olympic basketball and Team USA records.
After today’s game, he became the only player in Olympic history with 300 points, 125 rebounds, and 125 assists. LBJ arrived in Paris with 273 points, 95 rebounds, and 88 assists.
The only record he falls short of among Team USA basketball players is in points, where he is surpassed by Kevin Durant (503) and Carmelo Anthony (336). Getting leveled with Carmelo would be a tough feat, indicating his scoring a high number of points in the final game against the host team, France.
