LeBron James drops retirement hints at media day

The 40-year-old is getting ready to start his 23rd NBA season and appeared before the media at the start of LA Lakers training camp and gave glimpses of what is coming for his near future.

“I’m excited about today (the start of camp),” James said. “I’m excited for the opportunity to be able to play the game I love for one more season. Whatever path this year takes, I’m very involved because I don’t know when it’ll end.”

The ‘King’ averaged 24.4 points, 8.2 assists and 7.8 rebounds per game in 70 appearances last season and now promises to have a better performance with a renewed Los Angeles Lakers roster for the next campaign with the additions of Deandre Ayton, Marcus Smart and Jake LaRavia, in addition to Luka Doncic who has become a pillar since his arrival last season.

LeBron also said he was grateful to play alongside his oldest son, Bronny James, so he was asked if it would be a possibility to also play alongside his other son Bryce James.

Bryce is a freshman at the University of Arizona, so in an ideal scenario his two sons could be in the NBA for the next few seasons.

“I’m not going to wait for Bryce,” James said with a laugh. “I don’t know what his timeline is. He’s his own young man now. He’s in Tucson. We’ll see what happens this year, next year. He has his own timeline, I have mine, and I don’t know if they completely align. We’ll see.”
