LeBron James is eyeing yet another NBA record

Rodrigo Serrano
Los Angeles, California Update:

LeBron James finally felt like himself again for the first time this season during the Lakers’ win over the 76ers on Sunday at Wells Fargo Center. The veteran, who is nearing his 41st birthday, poured in 29 points to end the franchise’s eight-year run of losses in Philadelphia and, in the process, broke yet another personal record in his 23 seasons in the NBA.

The future Hall of Famer became the second-winningest player in league history, reaching 1,015 wins and moving one ahead of Boston Celtics legend Robert Parish. After adding another milestone to his storied career, James said he felt grateful and humbled, and he stressed once more that his goal has always been to guide the next generation of NBA players.

Another personal achievement for LeBron James

“Listen, it really humbles you, brother. To be in this position, to play the sport I love and still do it at a high level, and to be mentioned with… Obviously I didn’t get the opportunity to see Robert Parish in his prime, that was back in the ’80s,” the Lakers star began.

“I did see him later, when he was with the Bulls, but we all know what he meant to the game back then, especially with all those championships they won going up against the Lakers, Boston and all that. Being a historian of the game and being able to appreciate it is the most important thing to me. Appreciating those who came before, because they paved the way, and I try to do the same for the next generation,” James said.

James can continue expanding his NBA legacy and could eventually climb to the top of the league’s all-time wins list. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar currently holds the record with 1,074 victories, a mark the Lakers veteran could surpass if he chooses to return for a 24th season rather than retire at the end of what could be his final year in Los Angeles.
