LeBron’s Lakers sign up WNBA superstar’s little brother
Julian Reese, the younger brother of the Chicago Sky’s Angel, has been snapped up by the Los Angeles Lakers.

General manager Rob Pelinka has a clear mission this offseason: build a championship-caliber roster around LeBron James and Luka Doncic to give the Los Angeles Lakers a legitimate title window in the upcoming NBA season. Step one was selecting Adou Thiero in the 2025 NBA Draft. Now, the front office is combing through the undrafted talent pool to find hidden gems.
One of the first additions to the Lakers’ preseason squad is Julian Reese - the younger brother of WNBA superstar Angel Reese. While the Lakers haven’t made an official announcement, the University of Maryland revealed the news on social media, congratulating the former Terrapin who wore No. 10 throughout his college career.

A Maryland history maker
Reese averaged 13.3 points, 9.0 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game in his final season at Maryland. Over his collegiate career, the Baltimore native played in 134 games - starting 102 - and posted career averages of 11.1 points, 7.6 rebounds and 1.3 blocks. He leaves Maryland as one of the program’s all-time greats, becoming just the second player in school history to record at least 1,000 points (1,488) and 1,000 rebounds (1,015).
Known as “JuJu,” Reese was a four-star recruit coming out of high school, choosing Maryland over offers from Georgetown, UConn, Coastal Carolina and George Washington. According to Rivals.com, he also visited Rutgers before committing to the Terrapins.
Standing 6-foot-9 and weighing 252 pounds, Reese studied human development at Maryland. His size and versatility make him a potential fit as a forward who can defend interior positions or even slide into a small-ball center role—something the Lakers could find valuable in today’s positionless NBA.
