The trade deadline may have passed but the Golden State Warriors are still being linked with some of the league’s most in-demand players. The rumors about Golden State’s interest in Giannis Antetokounmpo were true and the team tried to acquire the Greek star during the recent free agency period.

No deal was made with the Milwaukee Bucks power forward but the Warriors are not giving up on finding a reinforcement. Looking ahead to the summer, the Warriors are reporting working on a move to bring in Bam Adebayo from the Miami Heat. Adebayo is wanted in the Bay Area and could come as a package deal with his WNBA star girlfriend A’ja Wilson.

Could Bam Adebayo join the Warriors?

Known as the power couple of professional basketball, Adebayo and A’ja Wilson are both elite players in their respective leagues. Adebayo is a three-time NBA All-Star and a close friend of current Warriors star Jimmy Butler. Meanwhile Wilson is a four-time WNBA MVP, one of the most decorated players of the modern era after building a dynstay with the Las Vegas Aces.

Both the Golden State Warriors and the Golden State Valkyries are owned by Joe Lacob, opening the possibility of a huge double-deal for the couple. NBA insider Brett Siegel has reported on the links, believing that a deal for both players could be a genuine option.

Lacob reports: “Adebayo is a player the Warriors have been interested in over the last year, as we’ve reported at ClutchPoints, and he still holds a strong relationship with Butler…A’ja Wilson, a four-time WNBA MVP, will be a key free agent target for Lacob and the Valkyries, sources said. Why would this matter for the Warriors? Well, Wilson and Adebayo have been together for years. These two becoming the faces of both Golden State franchises is certainly something to monitor.”

For now, it is just speculation but the scenario is not far-fetched. Adebayo is not entirely comfortable in Miami and the option of reuniting with Butler with the Warriors would have a real appeal. For Golden State, they need a dominant big man if they want to become serious championship contenders and get Stephen Curry another ring.
