Luka Doncic back on court as Slovenia beat Italy

The Dallas Mavericks star was back in action in Trieste for Slovenia and played for more than 20 minutes in the friendly game against Italy.

Luka Doncic was back on court on Saturday night but this time wearing the uniform of the Slovenian national side as the Dallas Mavericks star played for more than 20 minutes as the Slovenian side overcame Italy in Trieste with a comprehensive 71-90 win.

The friendly game in Italy saw Luka Dončić and Goran Dragić playing together again in the Slovenian jersey for the first time since September 2017 and the Pala Trieste attracted a sold-out crowd in the Italian city.

Slovenia were comfortable with the victory and recorded a 14th consecutive win against the Azzurri and remain unbeaten against Italy since since 2006.

Doncic bags 12 points

For Slovenia, Doncic finished with 12 points, seven rebounds and five assists in just over 23 minutes, while Goran Dragic added 11 points and four assists in just over 12 minutes. Tomas Woldetensae scored 13 points for the Italians, while Achille Polonara added 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Slovenia now head back to Ljubljana as they prepare for the next set of games of the 2023 World Cup qualifiers. The Slovenians will take on Croatia in Ljubljana on Thursday, 30 June at 20.15 (CEST), and then face Sweden in Stockholm on Sunday, 3 July at 17.00 (CEST).
