Los Angeles, California Update:

Luka Doncic knows exactly what it means to wear the purple and gold. For the Slovenian superstar, winning a championship with the Los Angeles Lakers isn’t just a dream — it’s the standard.

Luka Doncic’s productive summer

Doncic is gearing up for his first full season with the Lakers, and he made the most of the offseason. He focused on his conditioning while also suiting up for Slovenia at EuroBasket 2025, where he carried his team to the quarterfinals. Despite dropping 39 points in that game, Slovenia fell 99-91 and bowed out of the tournament.

Now, all eyes are on the NBA season opener. The Lakers will host the Golden State Warriors on Oct. 21 at Crypto.com Arena. With Doncic as the centerpiece, the front office has been busy building around him, adding Deandre Ayton, Marcus Smart and Jake LaRavia to the roster. In an interview with “Sports Central LA,” Doncic made it clear that the new additions were brought in with one thing in mind: competing for a title.

Doncic: “The championship is our goal”

“The championship — that’s our goal. It always has to be our goal,” Doncic said. “Obviously, we went out in the first round, but our goal is still the championship.”

Doncic’s remarks echo the expectations that come with being a Laker. Every season in Los Angeles, the standard is hanging another banner in the rafters.

Star power on full display at EuroBasket

The 26-year-old guard reminded everyone of his dominance during EuroBasket. He was virtually unstoppable, scoring from every spot on the floor, earning a place in the tournament’s All-Star Five and even picking up a nomination for Best Defender.

Now, his mission is crystal clear: to win his first NBA championship with one of the league’s most storied franchises. For Doncic, this season is about more than personal accolades — it’s about living up to the Lakers legacy.
