Update:

San Antonio Spurs forward Sandro Mamukelashvili had quite the night on Wednesday when his team beat the New York Knicks 120-105, and he made NBA history in the meantime.

Mamukelashvili shatters NBA record

Mamukelashvili doesn’t take long to make an impact on the court and that was apparent on Wednesday. He played just 19 minutes total and scored 34 of the Spurs' 120 total points, the highest number of points scored in a game when playing fewer than 20 minutes since 1951-52 when minutes became official.

His 34 points scored also happened to be a career high for Mamukelashvili. He entered the game in the second quarter and scored 13 points right off the bat on 5-of-6 shooting, including 3-of-3 from long range, seven rebounds, and an assist.

Mamukelashvili didn’t play at all in the third quarter, but in the fourth, he put up another 21 points on 8-of-8 shooting, including 4-of-4 from three-point range, plus two rebounds and two assists. With this incredible game, Mamukelashvili also joined an elite group of players, becoming just the fourth NBA player to shoot 90% from the field, 100% on three-pointers, and 100% on free throws in a game.

“13-of-14 from the field, 7-for-7 from 3, it would be ridiculous to say that was expected in 19 minutes and 26 seconds of opportunity,” Spurs acting coach Mitch Johnson said. “He’s a really good shooter, and you’re just waiting for him to have one of those games. I think that probably exceeded some of the thought of having one of those games. But he comes to work every day. He’s the most consistent person, especially when you talk about the role that he has. That’s why you can hear a little bit of the guys [in the locker room] and their feeling for him.”

As Mamukelashvili was heating up, his teammates, including Chris Paul, rallied around him to get him more looks. His historic performance was even more meaningful because Mamukelashvili had some special guests in the audience - his father, Zurab and other family members, as well as long-time friend and rapper Flavor Flav.

Mamukelashvili expressed his disbelief at the achievement after the game, emphasizing his hard work and support system, including his teammates, family, and friends, in helping him reach this milestone.
