Mavericks - Celtics, 2024 NBA Finals complete schedule: dates and times of every game
After victory in the Western Conference Finals, the Dallas Mavericks have set up an NBA Finals clash with the Boston Celtics, the Eastern Conference champions.
The Celtics will face the Mavericks in the 2024 NBA Finals, after Dallas joined Boston in the championship series by completing a comprehensive Western Conference Finals victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Thursday.
Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving scored 36 points each for the Mavericks in Game 5 in Minneapolis, as Dallas beat the Timberwolves 124-103 to secure a 4-1 triumph in the teams’ best-of-seven Conference Final. It is only the third time in franchise history that the Mavericks have reached the NBA Finals, and the first since they lifted their only championship in 2011.
Earlier this week, the Celtics stamped their ticket to the NBA Finals with an even more emphatic series victory than Dallas’s. Joe Mazzulla’s men were 4-0 winners in their Eastern Conference Final against the Indiana Pacers, with Monday’s 105-102 triumph in Indianapolis clinching a series sweep for a team that has lost just two games in the 2024 NBA Playoffs.
Chasing a record 18th league championship - the Celtics are currently tied with the Los Angeles Lakers as the NBA’s most decorated franchise - Boston will be contesting their 23rd Finals. Only the Lakers, with 32, have more more appearances in the postseason’s final round.
When do the 2024 NBA Finals start?
The 2024 NBA Finals are due to kick off on Thursday 6 June. As the team with the best record during the regular season, the Celtics will start the series by playing Games 1 and 2 at TD Garden in Boston. Should the Finals go to a deciding Game 7, it will also be played in Massachusetts.
