In American league sports, emotions can get the better of players and coaches when not properly controlled. Heat of the moment, competitive characters, provocative fans, and so on. Whatever it may be, there are endless players who lose control and make mistakes in moments like these, but only a very few of them own up to their actions.

Miles Bridges is one of those few.

After being ejected for arguing a call during Charlotte’s loss to the Atlanta Hawks, the Hornets’ star was heading towards the locker room upset when he got upset with a fan in the stands. He threw his mouthpiece at him only to miss and hit a girl instead.

Later after the game, the 24-year-old expressed regret for what he did in the post-game press conference, owning up to not controlling his emotions and being taken by the moment. He also said that he accepts any disciplinary action from the league, and he hopes he can reach out to the girl.

The 24-year-old also took to Twitter to get in contact with the girl he unintentionally hit with the mouthpiece. Several fans and figures in the NBA showed respect for Bridges’ attitude and apologetic words afterwards.

Bridges, who averaged 20.2 points per game this season, wasn’t only frustrated with a few calls during Wednesday’s game, but he was probably also discouraged with his own performance as he averaged just 12 in 30 minutes on Wednesday night.

The Hornets entered the play-in tournament as the No. 10 seed after going 43-39 in the regular season. While their season is over after their blowing loss on Wednesday night, the Hawks are facing the Cleveland Cavaliers for the No. 8 spot.
